📢 Major Rezoning Proposal Could Change the Face of Northeast Brooksville – Here’s What You Need to Know

A significant change may be coming to northeast Brooksville, and if you're a local resident or property owner in the area, now is the time to pay attention. A rezoning request by Hawk Land Investors on behalf of Majestic Oaks Partners LLC is scheduled to be heard by the Brooksville City Council on June 11, 2025, at 7:00 PM.

This proposed change could have a major impact on the land stretching from McIntyre Road on the west to Croom Road on the north, and down south to Mondon Hill Road—including areas surrounding Brooksville Country Club.

🏘️ What’s Being Proposed?

If approved, this rezoning would pave the way for Metro Development—the same developer building the lagoon in northwest Hernando County—to move forward with plans to build up to 919 single-family homes in this portion of northeast Brooksville. That’s a massive residential expansion in an area known for its quieter, more rural charm.

This development isn’t entirely new. In fact, a version of the project has been approved since 2005, but it has gone through several iterations over the years. The upcoming City Council meeting will consider new proposed changes to the site plan, giving residents a fresh opportunity to voice support, concerns, or suggestions.

🗓️ Why June 11th Matters

The rezoning meeting was originally scheduled for April 9, but has since been rescheduled for June 11, 2025. This public meeting will take place at:

📍 Brooksville City Hall
📬 201 Howell Avenue

🙋‍♀️ Why Your Voice Matters

Major developments like this can shape the future of a community—for better or worse. Increased housing could bring growth, new businesses, and infrastructure. But it could also impact traffic, schools, and the overall character of the area. Whether you're excited about potential growth or have concerns about preserving the feel of your neighborhood, this is your opportunity to be heard.

This is not just a routine meeting—it’s a chance for residents to engage in shaping the long-term vision for Brooksville.
